The COVID-19 pandemic is reshaping
our world. As a result of lockdowns
and stay-at-home orders, many are
re-examining the functional and spatial
qualities they find important in the
place we spend so much of our time -
our homes.

Our Client’s goal for the renovation of
their home in Toronto’s Summerhill
neighbourhood was twofold: design
a new facade that maximizes natural
light, and create a variety of outdoor
spaces for them to enjoy during the
warmer months.

Many different configurations, with
varying degrees of privacy and natural
light, were explored. The result is a
monolithic form which organizes a pair
of secluded terraces, interconnecting
with existing interior spaces to provide
a sense of openness and give life to the
facade.
